What Are We Doing With Our Old Nature?

Phillipians 3 ISV
The Apostle Paul after speaking of putting confidence in the flesh, tells us:

  • 7But whatever things were assets to me, these I now consider a loss for the sake of the Messiah.
  • 8What is more, I continue to consider all these things to be a loss for the sake of what is far more valuable, knowing the Messiah Jesus, my Lord
  • It is because of him that I have experienced the loss of all those things
  • Indeed, I consider them rubbish in order to gain the Messiah 9and be found in him
  • not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the Law,
  • but one that comes through the faithfulness of the Messiah,
  • the righteousness that comes from God and that depends on faith.
  • 10I want to know the Messiah —what his resurrection power is like and what it means to share in his sufferings by becoming like him in his death
  • 11though I hope to experience the resurrection from the dead. (King James Version says
If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.)

  • Yes, a person can have their "best life now" feeding the desires of their old nature (the flesh) as Joel Osteen teaches, but this is only possible because that person will spend eternity in torment and eternal death. James 4:14 tells us life is but a vapor. Joel Osteen's "best life now" occurs in a vapor which leads to eternal death and torment forever. Joel's gospel is false and is no gospel at all. He loves his own words, not God's. He loves the approval of unbelieving and ignorant men and women such as Oprah, not God.

You will not hear messages like Paul's from Joel. He is a wolf in sheep's clothing and his father desires to destroy mankind and see them go to hell. From Eve to Joel this day, countless others have fallen for the devil's lie. Satan offered Jesus his "best life now" by offering him the kingdoms of this world, Jesus said "Get thee behind me, Satan", rejecting him. Jesus then went to the cross where his Father poured his wrath out on Jesus to pay for sin. This was Jesus' reason for coming to earth! We must also reject Satan and take up our cross, crucifying (saying no to)  our old nature (the flesh) and follow Jesus continually..

If you have fallen for the lies of the Word of Faith movement and their false gospel, repent. Go to Jesus. He will forgive you. Then take up your cross and follow him. Obey what he and his Apostles said to do and not to do. READ THE NEW TESTAMENT. Start with the gospel of John. Read slowly. Take your time. Ask God and he will help you understand. You can believe what is written in the scriptures. The Holy Spirit of God inspired them!
