Idolatry - Sexual Sins & The Love Of Money

We live in day when many teachers are very wealthy. Many achieved this by tickling ears while telling their hearers to send them money and promising God will bless them financially in return. They actually are promoting the love of money in the face of the warnings in the scriptures. They do this out of a lust (idolatry) for money and bring devastation into their own lives. This defiles their hearers as they are encouraged to lust after wealth and are told God wants that for them.

Multitudes of people fall for these teacher's lies. They do not understand that the wicked one may give them the money they lust after and in the process destroy them, their families and countless others. You will see in Hebrews 13 that the warning about loving money is next to and listed with the warning about sexual sins. This is no accident.

Hebrews 13  ISV
  • 1Let brotherly love continue
  • 2Stop neglecting to show hospitality to strangers, for by showing hospitalitya some have had angels as their guests without being aware of it.
  • 3Continue to remember those in prison as if you were in prison with them, as well as those who are mistreated, since they also are only mortal.b
  • 4Let marriage be kept honorable in every way, and the marriage bed undefiled. For God will judge those who commit sexual sins, especially those who commit adultery.
  • 5Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be content with what you have, for Godc has said, “I will never leave you or abandon you.”d 6Hence we can confidently say, “The Lorde is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?”f
