Every Person Will Be Judged By God

Paul, talking to true believers says they will one day receive a heavenly dwelling, a new body. If we have been born from God, born again, we should be looking forward to losing this earthly body and receiving a new one. We will also be rid of our old sinful nature! This desire should grow more and more as we grow in the Lord and realize this world brings heartaches and pain.

In the meantime brothers and sisters, are we living in the understanding that we will receive rewards for what we do in this earthly body? Do we really understand that one day we will stand before Jesus the Messiah and have our lives examined for what we have done as true believers, both good and worthless! Now, in our earthly bodies is the only opportunity we will ever have to lay up treasure and be rewarded in heaven.

What are we living for? Are we even in the race or have we left the Lord? Whether you have left the Lord or never been born again, repent and start following Jesus the Messiah. Do what he and his disciples tell you to do in the New Testament.

24Then Jesus told his disciples, 

• “If anyone wants to follow me, he must deny himself, pick up his cross, and follow me continuously. 
• 25Whoever wants to save his life will lose it, 
• but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it, 
• 26because what profit will a person have if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? 
• Or what can a person give in exchange for his life? 
• 27The Son of Man is going to come with his angels in his Father’s glory, 
• and then he will repay everyone according to what he has done. 

Yes my friends, every person will be repaid for what they have done. Even those who are truly born again from God will be judged on what they did in their earthly body. Many will have no reward as they wasted their lives on earth. They will not be punished for their sin, but will have no reward as a result of a wasted life. Get into the race and be obedient. It will be worth it. Do not give up eternal rewards for things of this earth which will soon vanish away, just as a vapor.

2 Corinthians 5 ISV

1We know that if the earthly tent we live in is torn down, we have a building in heaven that comes from God, an eternal house not built by humana hands. 

• 2For in this one we sigh, since we long to put on our heavenly dwelling. 
• 3Of course, if we do put it on, we will not be found without a body.b 
• 4So while we are still in this tent, we sigh under our burdens, 
• because we do not want to put it off but to put it on, 
• so that our dying bodies may be swallowed up by life. 
• 5God has prepared us for this and has given us his Spirit as a guarantee.

6Therefore, we are always confident, 

• and we know that as long as we are at home in this body we are away from the Lord. 
• 7For we live by faith, not by sight. 
• 8We are confident, then, and would prefer to be away from this body and to live with the Lord. 
• 9So whether we are at home or away from home, our goal is to be pleasing to him. 
• 10For all of us must appear before the judgment seat of the Messiah,c 
• so that each of us may receive what he deserves 
• for what he has done in his body, 
• whether good or worthless.d
