What is true worship of God? Do we define true
worship by our experiences or feelings? I suggest you use an online bible
concordance and at least glance over at the verses listed in the New Testament which
include “worship” in them.
What does the Holy Spirit say is the way for us to worship?
Why are the Holy Spirit’s teachings ignored while “worship services” have taken
the place of the scriptures which teach, encourage and warn? This has paved the way
for a generation of scripturally, ignorant believers. On top of this a large number
of songs sung are not biblical and many have repetitive phrases that go on and
on. Pagan religions do this. The scriptures tell us not to do this.
When as a prodigal, I came home surrendering to the
Lord, I quit listening to worldly music and listened only to contemporary
Christian music. I was much better off spiritually as a result, but I also knew and
understood music is like caffeine as it encourages you, but brothers and sisters, Christian
music will not give you wisdom and renew your minds as the Holy Spirit desires.
Music will not make you strong in the day adversity. Prayer, the holy
scriptures and living a holy life can.
So, with anticipation we look at the Holy scriptures
which were inspired by God!
Romans 12: ISV
·
to
offer your bodies as living sacrifices that are holy and pleasing to God,
·
for
this is the reasonable way for you to worship.
·
but continuously be
transformed by the renewing of your minds (See Ephesians 4 at bottom)
·
so that you
may be able to determine
what God’s will is—what is proper, pleasing, and perfect.
How do we renew our minds? Paul addresses this in Ephesians 4 is now going to give us many examples of how we should live.

3For by the grace given to me I
ask every one of you not to think of yourself more highly than you should
think, rather to think of yourself with sober judgment on the measure of faith
that God has assigned each of you. 4For we
have many parts in one body, but these parts do not all have the same function. 5In the
same way, even though we are many people, we are one body in the Messiah and
individual parts connected to each other. 6We have
different gifts based on the grace that was given to us. So if your gift is
prophecy, use your gift in
proportion to your faith. 7If your
gift is serving, devote yourself to serving others. If it is teaching, devote yourself to
teaching others. 8If it
is encouraging, devote yourself to encouraging others. If it is sharing, share generously. If it is leading, lead
enthusiastically. If it is helping, help
cheerfully.
·
Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good.
·
Excel at showing respect for each other.
·
Be on fire with the Spirit. Serve the Lord.
·
Extend hospitality to strangers.
·
Cry with those who are crying.
·
Do not be arrogant, but associate with humble people.
·
Do not think that you are wiser than you really are.
·
but focus
your thoughts on what is right in the sight of all people.
·
19Do not
take revenge, dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath. For it is written, “Vengeance
belongs to me. I will pay them back, declares the Lord.”
·
20But “if
your enemy is hungry, feed him. For if he is thirsty, give him a drink. If you
do this, you will pile burning coals on his head.”
·
21Do not be conquered by evil,
but conquer evil with good.
Ephesians 4: ISV
Ephesians 4: ISV
22Regarding your former way of life, you were taught to strip off your old nature, which is being ruined by its deceptive desires, 23to be renewed in your mental attitude, 24and to clothe yourselves with the new nature, which was created according to God’s image in righteousness and true holiness.
