Paul, a Jew by birth, tells us God makes no distinction between Jews and Gentiles. Both can be
forgiven, cleansed from and freed from sin’s power, and born from above
through Christ’s work on the cross.
Acts 15 ISV
7After a lengthy
debate, Peter stood up and told them, “Brothers, you know that in the early
days, God chose me to be the one among you through whom the gentiles would hear the message of the gospel and believe. 8God, who knows
everyone’s heart, showed them he approved by
giving them the Holy Spirit, just as he did to us.
9He made no
distinction between them and us, because
of their faith-cleansed hearts. 10So why do you test
God by putting on the disciples’ neck a yoke that neither our ancestors nor we
could carry?
11We certainly believe that it is through the
grace of the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, that we are saved, just as they are.”
The scriptures do tell
us that God has not forgotten his promise to Abraham that his descendants will one
day occupy all of the land he gave them which is much more than they have today. It is not because they
deserve it. It is because God promised the lands to Abraham’s descendants through Jacob, whose
name was changed to Israel. There are also promises given to some of the other
nations in the middle east.
