The Importance of The Holy Spirit

Brothers and sisters,

We have been so robbed of the truth, by teachers who have turned their back on the scriptural gift of the Holy Spirit. Have you received the Holy Spirit?

Have you prayed with the spirit and with your mind as Paul said he did? Have you sung with the spirit and sung with your mind? For countless years I could not understand this! It made no sense, until I received the Holy Spirit baptism. Immediately I had more power to witness. At that time I received the gift of tongues. I now can pray with my mind and pray with the spirit at the same time as Paul did

The Apostle Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 14:
  • 13Therefore let one who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret. 14For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. 15What is the outcome then? I will pray with the spirit and I will pray with the mind also; I will sing with the spirit and I will sing with the mind also. NASB
For countless generations believers have not understood the necessity of being filled with the Holy Spirit. I believe the gift of tongues is for all believers, but ask the Father for the Holy Spirit and obey the Father! He gives the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the gifts, one of which is tongues.

We are told by Peter in Acts 2:38:
  • "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the Holy Spirit. 39. "for the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself". NASB
If you do not believe in the filling of the Holy Spirit, you will not receive all that God has for you. This is my personal testimony after 50 years of not being filled with the Spirit.

We are told by Peter in Acts 5:32:
  • "And we are witnesses of these things: and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him". NASB
Up until the following verse, it had been the Jews who came to faith in Jesus the Messiah. What happened when the gentiles put their faith in Jesus and receive the Holy Spirit?
  • 44While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to the message45All the circumcised believers who came with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.46For they were hearing them speaking with tongues and exalting God. Then Peter answered, 47Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he?” 48And he ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay on for a few days. Acts 10 NASB
I know there are countless false teachers. I know there are wicked people who Satan has gifted with his tongues. Satan counterfeits all the gifts of God, but do not let that trouble you. Seek after the Father for all He has for you. If you ask him for bread, He will not give you a stone!

Paul tells us in 2 Timothy 3
  •  1But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. 2For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, 4treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. 6For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, 7always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, rejected in regard to the faith. 9But they will not make further progress; for their folly will be obvious to all, just as Jannes’s and Jambres’s folly was also. NASB

Do not trust man. Do not trust teachers/preachers. Seek the filling of the Holy Spirit and read the New Testament for yourself. Then you can judge the teachers/preachers words. The bible was written to children. There is not one so called "church father" now or from the past that you should trust. Trust God and His inspired written Word of God!

In John 16, Jesus sent the Helper, the Holy Spirit.
  • 7“But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to youbut if I go, I will send Him to you. 8And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; 9concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me; 11and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.
  •       12“I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13“But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. 14“He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. 15All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you. NASB
In Acts 8, below, we see Peter and John, after people received the word of God, praying that the new believers would receive the Holy Spirit. Brothers and sisters, what has changed? I know so called theologians and teachers will have their own spin on this, but I ask you to search the New Testament to find where we are told that the necessity of people receiving the Holy Spirit has stopped.

I prayed for years that I would be filled with the Holy Spirit. I had come to know that those I wanted to pray for me, all had been baptized in the Holy Spirit and received the gift of tongues. When I was in prayer, surrendering my life to the Lord, Jesus Christ, I received the gift of tongues and was baptized in the Holy Spirit.

  • Acts 8   14Now when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent them Peter and John, 15who came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. 16For He had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17Then they began laying their hands on them, and they were receiving the Holy Spirit. NASB
God bless!
