Christian Leaders Are Departing From The Faith. Are You?

The Apostle Paul loved Timothy as a spiritual son and wrote two letters to him which were inspired by the Holy Spirit. What was Paul's last warning recorded in his second letter to Timothy? It is especially timely for the period of time we find ourselves in. We see why we are warned as we see preachers and teachers who cater to the people's own desires and are abandoning the pure gospel.

Brothers and sisters, we must repent/turn from sin and obey Jesus and the gospel. Do not trust man. If you are not searching the New Testament for the truth and judging the preachers, you are very likely being deceived. As I warn the people I regularly hear "not my preacher", but most clearly do not know the scriptures well enough to judge the preacher's words and/or do not know it is our own responsibility to judge the teachers as the Bereans judged the Apostle Paul' teachings.

Countless preachers are accepting Mormonism and Islam and leading their people to do so. Mormonism is a cult and its birth is closely connected to Islam. Please see yesterday's post. This is not a time to trust teachers with your soul. You must know the scriptures and seek the Holy Spirit to give you wisdom. It will cost you, but what price do you place on your soul?

2 Timothy 4 ISV
1In the presence of God and the Messiaha Jesus, who is going to judge those who are living and those who are dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I solemnly appeal to you
2to proclaim the message

  • Be ready to do thisb whether or not the time is convenient
  • Refute,
  • warn,
  • and encourage with the utmost patience when you teach.
3For the time will come when people will not tolerate healthy doctrine

  • but with itching ears will surround themselves with teachers who cater to their people’s own desires.
  • 4They will refuse to listen to the truth and will turn to myths.
5But you must be clear-headed about everything. Endure suffering. Do the work of an evangelist. Devote yourself completely to your ministry.
