Warnings of 1 Corinthians. Chapters 12-16

Please brothers and sisters, we must judge ourselves. When we read the warnings we should not read them thinking they do not apply to us and that we cannot fall away. These warnings were given by Jesus to his disciples! It is a war to judge yourself. Jesus warned his disciples that if they did not abide in him they would be burned. Read Ezekiel 18. where Jesus gives the gospel.

Warnings of 1 Corinthians. NASB

Chapter 12
1Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware2You know that when you were pagans, you were led astray to the mute idols, however you were led. 3Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus is accursed”; and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.
-------
27Now you are Christ’s body, and individually members of it. 28And God has appointed in the church, first apostles, second prophetsthird teachersthen miraclesthen gifts of healingshelpsadministrationsvarious kinds of tongues. 29All are not apostles, are they? All are not prophets, are they? All are not teachers, are they? All are not workers of miracles, are they? 30All do not have gifts of healings, do they? All do not speak with tongues, do they? All do not interpret, do they? 31But earnestly desire the greater gifts.
And I show you a still more excellent way. (continues to chapter 13 wm)

Chapter 13
1If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing3And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.
4Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, 5does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, 6does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;7bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8Love never failsbut if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part; 10but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away11When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.12For now we see in a mirror dimlybut then face to face;  now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known. 13But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love. (the gifts will cease and not be needed when all the saints are with Jesus. We will see him face to face. Love will remain forever! wm)

Chapter 14
1Pursue loveyet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. 2For one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God; for no one understands, but in his spirit he speaks mysteries. 3But one who prophesies speaks to men for edification and exhortation and consolation. 4One who speaks in a tongue edifies himself; but one who prophesies edifies the church.5Now I wish that you all spoke in tongues, but even more that you would prophesy; and greater is one who prophesies than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may receive edifying.
-------
13Therefore let one who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret. 14For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful15What is the outcome then? I will pray with the spirit and I will pray with the mind also; I will sing with the spirit and I will sing with the mind also. 16Otherwise if you bless in the spirit only, how will the one who fills the place of the ungifted say the “Amen” at your giving of thanks, since he does not know what you are saying? 17For you are giving thanks well enough, but the other person is not edified. 18I thank God, I speak in tongues more than you all; 19however, in the church I desire to speak five words with my mind so that I may instruct others also, rather than ten thousand words in a tongue.
-------
26What is the outcome then, brethren? When you assembleeach one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification27If anyone speaks in a tongue, it should be by two or at the most three, and each in turn, and one must interpret; 28but if there is no interpreter, he must keep silent in the church; and let him speak to himself and to God. 29Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others pass judgment. 30But if a revelation is made to another who is seated, the first one must keep silent. 31For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all may be exhorted; 32and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets; 33for God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.
  • Please note in verse 26, above, just how far we have fallen today! Paul says "When you assemble, each one has..." We have forsaken the "body" which is to be giving input to the body of Christ and raised up to ourselves kings who are not filled with the with God's Spirit. Then we ask them to rule over us and tell us what the scriptures say! They resist The Holy Spirit.  Powerless believers is the result at best, and deceivers at worst. wm
34The women are to keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but are to subject themselves, just as the Law also says. 35If they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is improper for a woman to speak in church.36Was it from you that the word of God first went forth? Or has it come to you only?
37If anyone thinks he is a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize that the things which I write to you are the Lord’s commandment.38But if anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized.
  • Paul tells us the things which he writes are the Lord's commandment. Then he goes on to tell the church "do not forbid to speak in tongues". Oh, how many teachers mock the Holy Spirit by denying His gift of speaking in tongues. I myself was one. Paul tells us they are mocking the Lord's commandments!!!!!! Paul tells us "not to recognize" (pay attention to) the person who does not acknowledge Paul is speaking the Lord's commandments!!!! People who deny tongues are denying the Holy Spirit who commanded Paul to command us below "do not forbid to speak in tongues".  wm

39Therefore, my brethren, desire earnestly to prophesyand do not forbid to speak in tongues. 40But all things must be done properly and in an orderly manner.

Chapter 16
19The churches of Asia greet you. Aquila and Prisca greet you heartily in the Lord, with the church that is in their house. 20All the brethren greet you. Greet one another with a holy kiss.
21The greeting is in my own hand—Paul. 22If anyone does not love the Lord, he is to be accursed. Maranatha. 23The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you.  24My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.
