The Christmas Tree and Jeremiah 1

Who do we serve? Who do we honor? How important is the One we serve? Would we tempt the Lord Jesus? If we are told of the connection of the tree and idolatry, would we ere on the side of not dishonoring God or will be listen to those who explain things away?

You can always find a doctor who will tell you the baby in your womb is just tissue. You can always find a Joel Osteen, who even wrote about Christmas, which is a pagan holiday!

If you think the Christmas tree is not a big deal to you, tell your family you are going to honor God and not have a tree on the Pagan day called Christmas. You will likely find they love the tree more than you, let alone God. My wife hated me for seeking to get the Pagan holidays out of the home. Yes, it is idolatry and yes, idolatry keeps one out of the Kingdom of Heaven. To him that knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.

Jeremiah 1 NASB
      1Hear the word which the LORD speaks to you, O house of Israel.
2Thus says the LORD,

“Do not learn the way of the nations,
            And do not be terrified by the signs of the heavens
            Although the nations are terrified by them;
      3For the customs of the peoples are delusion;
            Because it is wood cut from the forest,
            The work of the hands of a craftsman with a cutting tool.
      4They decorate it with silver and with gold;
            They fasten it with nails and with hammers
            So that it will not totter. (fall over)
      5Like a scarecrow in a cucumber field are they, (they are tall)
            And they cannot speak;
            They must be carried,
            Because they cannot walk!
            Do not fear them,
            For they can do no harm,
            Nor can they do any good.”

      6There is none like You, O LORD;
            You are great, and great is Your name in might.
      7Who would not fear You, O King of the nations?
            Indeed it is Your due!
            For among all the wise men of the nations
            And in all their kingdoms,
            There is none like You.
      8But they are altogether stupid and foolish
            In their discipline of delusion—their idol is wood! (Just try to do away with it)
      9Beaten silver is brought from Tarshish,
            And gold from Uphaz,
            The work of a craftsman and of the hands of a goldsmith;
            Violet and purple are their clothing;
            They are all the work of skilled men.

I know this is very hard medicine for some of you. The reason is the teachers are not warning the people. The teachers are in apostasy. They are blind. They will not warn you of being lukewarm, which causes Jesus to spit the person out of his mouth.

Here is the answer to the matter:

Luke 14 NASB

 25Now large crowds were going along with Him; and He turned and said to them, 26“If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple.

27“Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. 28“For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it? 29“Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who observe it begin to ridicule him, 30saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’

31“Or what king, when he sets out to meet another king in battle, will not first sit down and consider whether he is strong enough with ten thousand men to encounter the one coming against him with twenty thousand? 32“Or else, while the other is still far away, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace.

33“So then, none of you can be My disciple who does not give up all his own possessions.

Compared to Jesus, our love for others should appear as hatred. It will cost you everything, but you will gain eternal life. Friends, make your calling and election sure. Be ye holy as God is holy. wm
