John Macarthur Still Denies the Eternal Sonship of Jesus Christ

It's well documented that John Macarthur taught that Jesus Christ was not the Son of God from eternity past, but only became the Son of God in his incarnation.

What is not well documented is that John Macarthur has not repented of this false teaching as is commonly believed. The following is excerpted from John Macarthur's The Masters Seminary's Statement of Faith:
"We teach that, in the incarnation, the second person of the Trinity laid aside His right to the full prerogatives of coexistence with God, assumed the place of a Son, and took on an existence appropriate to a servant while never divesting Himself of His divine attributes (Philippians 2:5-8)."

The following is Pastor George Zeller's response to this statement::
"This statement implies that prior to the incarnation Christ had not assumed the place of a Son. Also it implies that Christ did not assume the role of a Son until the incarnation. However, the Bible teaches that Sonship is not a role that Christ played, nor is it a place that He assumed. Sonship relates to Christ’s essential identity. He has always existed as the Son; He has forever been in the bosom of the Father (John 1:18). Sonship is not something that He ever assumed."

What does Jesus Christ say in John 16:7?
"Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
With his continued denial of the eternal Sonship of Jesus Christ and his failure to state that Jesus Christ also sent the Holy Spirit, John Macarthur is not only attempting to somehow demote Jesus Christ and diminish His glory, but is teaching a false Christ.

My Encounter with John Macarthur
by Bob Johnson on 10/25/13About two years ago and just two weeks prior to Macarthur's Pastors' Conference, I went to Grace Community Church and spoke to Macarthur. I'd never met him before and I went up on a Sunday night and waited in a long line after his sermon to speak with him. Because he'd never met me before, I knew that he wouldn't be on guard and I thought that I'd stand a good chance of catching a glimpse of the real Macarthur. I still remember it like yesterday. I asked Macarthur the following:
Bob: Dr. Macarthur, will Al Mohler be speaking at the upcoming Pastors' Conference?
Mac: Yes, he will be.
Bob: Do you know that he leads 2 NGO's of the UN?
Mac: Al Mohler would have nothing to do with any organization connected
to the UN.
Bob: The Southern Baptist Convention is an NGO of the UN with Special Consultative Status.
Mac: The SBC is in no way connected to the UN. What is the other organization?
Bob: Focus on the Family. Mohler is its Vice Chairman.
Mac: I know Jim Dobson and he would have nothing to do with the UN.
The next Sunday night I went to Macarthur's sermon again holding evidence in paper form to prove what I had said about Mohler, Focus on the Family, and the SBC the previous Sunday night. Soon after his sermon ended and as I got up to get in line I noticed several security guards speaking in their mikes and converging around me. There were at least 6 of them and I wondered if I should I just bolt out or stick it out and I decided to stick it out and see what would happen. When I met Macarthur he said first loudly, "I know you." And I said that I came to show him proof that he was wrong in what he said previously. Then he looked at my 10 or so pages and said each time in a sarcastic, condescending tone, "Oh, I see you are right about that--yes, you are right." The charade continued for about 5 minutes as the guards had me totally surrounded. Then the guards asked me, "Are you Bob Johnson?" And when I replied in the affirmative, the leader told me to leave and never come back or I'd be arrested. They then escorted me to the sidewalk out in front of the church and when I got on the sidewalk, Macarthur's main bodyguard told me, "You just say one word and you'll spend the night in jail." It was obvious to me that it was no empty threat. I then just walked across the street and got in my car. I called a Christian pastor I know from my car and told him what happened and he said to me, "Bob, you better get out of there before they put a bullet in your head." What a testimony for a man considered by many to be the greatest preacher in America. As a side note, I believe that Macarthur stands at the same place after every sermon and so all his conversations are audio and video taped. I believe Macarthur is also wired for sound. GCC is a real police state church.
So now I've seen first hand that Macarthur is a bold liar. I hope Christians wake up and see the truth about their heroes like Graham and Macarthur.
