Joan Hunter - False Teacher

First let me say I believe God heals and performs miracles. I also believe the gifts of The Holy Spirit are for today. What I address in this post is false teachers and deceivers. Even the deceivers may perform a miracle. What better way for Satan to deceive!

I speak from my own actual experience with Joan Hunter. She was the guest speaker at a Christian Business meeting in Houston, Texas in 2011.She was in the front speaking and I was much less than ten feet from her. She asked if anyone wanted prayer for healing. One lady said yes and went forward. When she got close to Joan she said "while we are at it, will you ask God for me to grow taller". Joan said yes and proceeded to pray for her.

I immediately lined up the top of the woman's head with a mark on the wall behind Joan. Joan began to yell, "praise God", and work up the audience. Some in the group were even yelling out that they could see her grow. Joan proclaimed "she's grown two inches!" I never took my eye off the mark that lined up on the wall. This lady did not grow at all! Pure hype and deception. The time was then up for us to leave the rented room and I watched in shock as Joan panicked to take up an offering for herself.

Many do not understand how the leaders who host these deceptions make sure the sheep give money and buy the wares of the deceiving guest speaker. Many leaders promote each other so they become wealthy.

If you have been deceived by this false prophet, Joan Hunter, you are in grave danger as you trust in people and signs and do not know the New Testament as you ought. Joan is a true deceiver.

Jesus told us in Matthew 16: NASB
4“An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and a sign will not be given it, except the sign of Jonah.”.

Jesus also said in Matthew 24: NASB
"24“For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect. 25“Behold, I have told you in advance." NASB

Jesus also said in Matthew 7: NASB
21“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. 22“Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ 23“And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’

You must repent to God (turn from your false beliefs, back to God) and do what the scriptures say to do and not to do. You are looking to man. I trust you do not want to hear "depart from me, you who practice lawlessness"

The following video shows how Sid Roth deceives people on his TV program "It's Supernatural". He created  a very expensive, entire recreation of events for Joan Hunter. This apparently was based upon what she told him. They had professional actors, staging, etc, which would be very expensive. Sid Roth is promoting a deceitful person here. How could anyone trust him then? I do not say all his guests are deceitful, but why waste your time when you are likely watching false reenactments, which boost viewership and $$$$$$. I know in the case of Joan Hunter, she is a false teacher and her accomplice Sid Roth cannot be trusted to give truth to the masses.

  1. I am doing research on Joan Hunter, can anyone share their personal experiences about the Ministry of Joan Hunter, ( I have serious doubts about the healing teachings) any evidence to the contrary of Biblical teaching is hard to find concerning her teachings, I would rather not give out my email at this time, Thanks Dave

    1. she was at our Church. There was a boy and his father who went in the isle to be Prayed for.. She ignored them totally. They were told by staff to site down. The boy was causing a fuss I sensed demon possesson. They were then told to move to another part of the Church. Finally they were escorted to the lobby.. Then one of her people said the boy left in peace.. I mean really !!!!! She is suppose to be a Healer and she does nothing for this boy???????

  3. I saw a similar video online where people were supposedly getting taller while Joan Hunter prayed for them. I watched very closely, as well, comparing their height with a fixed point and saw no difference, though Joan was all the while exclaiming about how they'd grown.

I'm also uncomfortable with her terminology of cursing the illness, etc., but am not sure if that's just a personal sensitivity or if it's biblical. Jesus cursed the fig tree, but I don't recall any stories of Him cursing people's sicknesses when He healed them.

She's to be hosted for a weekend by a church in my small town and I was at first excited about the possibility of going for healing. Some of her work looked so promising. However, after watching several videos online of her ministry, I strongly feel God doesn't want me to go.

    Questions going through my mind:
If there is falsehood represented, why don't other ministries see it? Are they false as well?

    1. The ones involved in false teaching will not point out the error. Those who know it are afraid to take a stand. See the video at my post The Word Of Faith Movement Is A Cult. November 1, 2013.

  4. Just noticed a post on someone's page on fb that said x number of people got healed at one of her services. Really? Sorry, but I want documentation. And what is she doing with Sid Roth if she's for real? :o

  5. Hello. I come from a Baptist background and I pastored a Bible church for three years. I have 3 college degrees. I believe in the miraculous works of God, and I have been a part of charismatic, Anglican, fundamentalist, and non-denominational churches. I currently am a member of a spirit-filled Southern Baptist church. I attended a Joan Hunter seminar/teaching weekend. I personally experienced a miraculous healing while there, not with her directly, but with a friend of mine who prayed for me. Several years earlier, I had broken my thumb/hand with an injury referred to as gamekeeper's thumb or skier's thumb. It healed, but it still bothered me. I lived with it for several years and at that conference was healed. My friend heard the words "blood flow" while praying for me and I felt warmth in my hand. He said he heard or felt "clicks" in my hand. I am testifying that God healed whatever was bothering me from the injury. It has been nearly a year, and my hand hasn't flared up or hurt me since. I believe in miracles, but I am very cautious about the charismatic/word of faith movement. I do believe God does mighty works in and through people, yet He has personally warned me to stay away 3 times from a church I used to be a part of. It is a non-denominational, charismatic church. God has shown me the deception that operates in the word of faith movement. I did not realize what I know now until after following God's leading to join my current church. There is a freedom for God to move powerfully, yet there is a grounding in the word that was lacking from the charismatic church I was in. There is good in the charismatic movement, but also a lot of deception because of a lack of solid teaching and doctrine. As with any teacher or ministry, stay grounded in the word, seek the Father, and He will give you discernment as you humble yourself before Him. Let Him guide you in what is from Him and what is false. If you walk humbly before Him, you can't go wrong. Sincerely, John.

  6. Thank you for your words. I agree with you. When I as a prodigal came home, it was the Charismatics who God sent to me, a Baptist Calvinist for many years. It is a time of great danger and false teachings. I would stay away from the Charismatics and Assembly of God. We are to assemble together, but the Charismatics and Assembly of God, are accepting almost anything. Google Jacob Prasch, a moderate Pentecostal. He is my favorite teacher and he keeps the body updated on false teachings. Thank you for your words!!!

  9. Joan herself has prayed for me and I felted things happen in my body that I cant explain. She taught me how to pray for the sick and I have seen them healed so does that mean that I'm doing the works of the devil in Jesus' name? We are a vessel to be used by the Holy Spirit to heal the sick and if that leads the lost to Jesus then how can you call it false? You have to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven like a child and receive by faith. I have seen, received and ministered countless healings due to Joan's teaching. She is the Real Deal!!

  10. My testimony is true. I was about 4 feet from her and watched her deceive the crowd, then panic to take up an offering for herself.

You are deceived and do not see this. You call a woman that you do not even know the heart of "the Real Deal"? You are in grave danger as you trust in people and signs. Jesus told us in Matthew 16:

4“An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and a sign will not be given it, except the sign of Jonah.”.

Jesus also said in Matthew 24: NASB
"24“For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect. 25“Behold, I have told you in advance." NASB

Jesus also said in Matthew 7:
21“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. 22“Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ 23“And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’

You must repent to God (turn from your false beliefs, back to God) and do what the true "Real Deal" says to do, Jesus the Messiah. You are looking to man. I trust you do not want to hear "depart from me, you who practice lawlessness".

  11. I have been to many of Joan Hunter's services, I've even been able to travel on a few of her trips. She is a very sincere person who loves Jesus. Nobody is perfect and maybe each of us would do things differently but we are not going to be held accountable for what she does we are going to be held accountable for what we do. We should not judge her or any other gospel preaching person. Mark 9:40 says But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me. 40For he that is not against us is on our part. 41For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward. I have seen hundreds of people come to salvation in her services, she encourages the body of Christ to love others and share the good news, and pray for one another. Let's focus on that brothers and sisters in Christ. The time for the Lord's return is too soon for us to point fingers at each other. Let's accept our differences in love and not judgment and be in unity. Blessings. :) from Houston Tx

    1. Joan Hunter deceived the crowd. Her "miracle" was false. It did not happen even though the crowd and Joan cried out she grew. Your defense using Mark does not not apply as she deceived the crowd. Your verse about giving a cup of water does not apply at all. To use the verses you quoted, you had to ignore she lied and deceived.

You are tolerating a false teacher. The Apostle Paul would call her out also. You are willfully tolerating a false teacher and ignoring the scriptures, such as below.

      Matthew 16:

You must repent to God (turn from your false beliefs, back to God). You are looking to man. I trust you do not want to hear "depart from me, you who practice lawlessness". Joan does.

  12. i was at the one in rochester ny.. these a parlor tricks.. the one where you arm grows longer also... the people that were healed many lost their healings in a matter of minutes hours a day.. i dont know what is going on.. how do you explain it then??

  13. In my case, the lady had no growth as Joan Hunter claimed she did. (1)God can heal. (2)Satan can also. (3)God tells us in the Old Testament that He may allow a false prophet to be right, to test the hearts of the listeners to see if they will follow the false prophet.

  14. Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.

    1. I am very disheartened with the source of this website. Judge not lest you be judged. I recently received a miraculous healing of my mind and my vertebrae. People ask me what is different. I lived for years in a fog due to a bad whiplash accident. It is thrilling for me to know that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. I love to pray for others. Throughout my lifetime I have witnessed many miraculous healings, including in myself. Thank you Jesus! Thank you Lord!

  15. I understand, given your experience, but everything I placed on this post is true. Do you understand that people will be in hell, even though they healed people? Satan heals.

  16. She was just at my small church this past Sunday 6-5-16 and has me changing churches because the growing thing happend and also she spoke too much about money so l do beleive she is false and to have my pastor not see this has me confused and in search of a new church. I have a question though. Have you ever heard of the speaker who goes to churches and praying and people receiving gold teeth? That l do belive is false but l would like your input

    ReplyDelete
  17. Praise God you have discernment! That comes from the Holy Spirit! He does not play gold teeth! We are in apostasy. The churches, as a whole, are tickling the ears. The gold teeth is a farce and not from God. There is no precedent. It is part of getting rich. Your pastor is blind. It is about the money. "Come out of her". Read the New Testament until you can judge the teachers. I did it for 3 years. The most dangerous place in America is in the churches. The churches in Revelation tell us a lot. We are rich, but do not realize we are naked. Listen to David Pawson and Jacob Prasch. They tell the truth. Do not get involved with Calvinism. It is a false system. Do not give your mind to a pastor who may be addicted to porn. Stay in the New Testament. Believe what it says. The Father will guide you. Please contact me if you have any questions. I am 61 and the Lord took me through what you are going thru, false teachers. The pulpits are filled with them. God Bless.

  18. Joan came to our Church in July. I was healed from fybriomyalgia. There was a man and a boy who came down the isle wanting Prayer. She ignored then. They were told to site down by one of their people. The boy would kick and hit. They finally got moved over to another part. The behavior continued. hey were finally escorted out...She never attempted to do anything. There was also a woman who had dark glasses and was with a friend. They were also lead out. Their was this supposed miracle that a woman walked out of a wheel chair and left the chair. I was sceptical. I feel it was discernment because I really did not want to go see her but went 2 times just to see. She talked a LOT about money.

  19. The scriptures are clear that false teachers can do miracles. God even uses them to test people whether they will stay with God or not. The focus on money lets us know she is a wolf in sheep's clothing. You must now follow Jesus and his apostles as to how you are to live. There are 80 warnings in the New Testament warning us we can fall away. We must finish the race in faithfulness.
