The Truth about God’s TRUTH - Dan Corner

The Truth about God’s TRUTH

God’s word (the Bible) is truth (John 17:17), but it is the most unique kind of truth on the planet! It is alive (Heb. 4:12). It is spirit and life (Jn. 6:63), but that is far from all it is. God’s word is sharper than any double edged sword(Heb. 4:12). truth God's truthGod’s truth is also an invisible reality that will HURT and afflict the recipients or comfort and strengthen them, based on their present tense spiritual condition. Your present view of scripture is a good checkpoint for spiritual self examinationFurthermore, the truth about God’s truth is, it can hurt severely in such an unusual way that wicked people want to persecute the righteous who proclaim the truth, even to their death. An example is adulterous Herodius, who wanted John the Baptist dead, because he called attention to her counterfeit marriage to Herod. To her, God’s truth spoken through John must have seemed like the so called misnamed hate speech, as falsely labeled in our dark day. It was really love for her soul, but not perceived as such. John was a true holiness preacher, who didn’t refrain from speaking the unpopular truth about that type of adultery (Mk. 6:17-19).

God’s Truth is Vital

Today, I was thinking how I once believed the doctrines of Catholicism that I was taught as a young boy. Finding the life saving truth of God, by reading the Bible, was a vital necessity for me. If it wasn’t for finding the truth of the Bible, I would have gone to hell through Catholicism. Just like billions of others, including Hindus who think they can get forgiven by bathing in the Ganges River, many religious people are in spiritual deception and need the light of God’s truth to remedy their situation!  God’s truth is most precious and the devil hates it. Shocking as it may seem, some were put to their death for translating the Bible into the language of common man so they could read it for themselves. William Tyndale was such a man. Surely, the devil was behind that and all attempts to hinder the spread of God’s truth.

Buy The Truth

The Bible says:
Buy the truth and do not sell it; get wisdom, discipline and understanding.  (Prov 23:23)
To sell God’s truth for anything is always a bad exchange. It will cost you your SOUL and drag people to hell with you, even if you aren’t in a teaching leadership position. You do have a circle of influence on others and what you do and say matters for them and others.

I Tell You The Truth

The Lord Jesus Christ is not only eternal life (1 John 1:2), he is the truth in the flesh (Jn. 14:6). That helps to answer the question, Who is Jesus Christ. Truth and eternal life go together, as sound doctrine and holiness do. Never forget that. One vitally needs God’s truth to get eternal life and Jesus has the words of eternal life! Here are some of the wonderful truths he spoke. See if they hurt or bless you. Either way, they will forever remain truth:
But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.  (Mat 5:28,29)
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”  (Mat 19:23,24)
He [Jesus] will reply, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these [Christians], you did not do for me.”  (Mat 25:45)
I tell you the truth, he who believes [on Jesus] has everlasting life.  (John 6:47)
I tell you the truth, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death.  (John 8:51)
Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.  (Rev 2:4,5)
Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death.  (Rev 2:10,11)
I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first. Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols. (Rev 2:19,20)
Do you love God’s truth? Do YOU know Jesus NOW?

Eternal Life

According to the Bible, eternal life is much more than just the gift of God (Rom. 6:23) and a present tense possession (Jn 6:47; 1 Jn 5:11-13). Eternal life is also a hope (Titus 3:7) yet to be reaped (Gal. 6:8,9), in the age to come (Mk. 10:30) for only the ones who persist in doing good (Rom. 2:7) and don't grow weary and give up sowing to please the Spirit (Gal. 6:9)! Eternal life is also a promise for the Christians who hold on to the gospel truth they heard from the beginning to remain in Christ and the Father (1 Jn. 2:24-26).
