"We are humans and we sin" is not an excuse to sin. Jesus told the woman who was taken in the very act of adultery, "STOP SINNING". Jesus told the crippled man at the pool, "STOP SINNING OR SOMETHING WORSE WILL HAPPEN TO YOU". We see clearly we are to stop sinning.
The reason people get confused is there are degrees of sin. Murder is different than saying you like your wife's blouse when you do not. Both are wrong, but one leads to SPIRITUAL DEATH and the other does not, unless a person is a habitual liar. Jesus told us to pray "forgive us our sins as we forgive those who trespass against us". These sins are covered for the believer. God is not looking for small things to damn us. He makes it clear what sins keep us out of the kingdom of God and send us to hell. This is shown in Galatians 5:19, a little further down.
1 John 1: 5
This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. 6 IF WE SAY that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; 7 BUT IF WE walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 IF WE SAY that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.
9 IF WE CONFESS OUR SINS, HE IS FAITHFUL AND RIGHTEOUS TO FORGIVE US FROM ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.
We can fall away and become lost again as seen below. If this is your case, go back and start over. I was a prodigal and he took me back. RUN TO JESUS!
Galatians 5:19
Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, 21 envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, OF WHICH I FOREWARN YOU, JUST AS I HAVE FOREWARNED YOU, THAT THOSE WHO PRACTICE SUCH THINGS WILL NOT INHERIT KINGDOM OF GOD.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 NOW THOSE WHO BELONG TO CHRIST JESUS HAVE CRUCIFIED THE FLESH WITH ITS PASSIONS AND DESIRES.
I want to share something with YOU. I want to touch the heart of those who are obeying Jesus and those who are about to die spiritually or have died spiritually. I have seen the great love God the Father and His Son have. I had never understood what I am about to show you until recently. God loves those who are about to sin horribly and those who return to Him as prodigals. However, there comes a time when His love ceases for those who continue to commit sins that keep a person out of the Kingdom of God.
Genesis 4
1Later, Adam had sexual relations with his wife Eve. She became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said, “I have given birth to a male child—the LORD.” 2And she did it again, giving birth to his brother Abel. Abel shepherded flocks and Cain became a farmer.
3Later, after a while, Cain brought an offering to the LORD from the fruit that he had harvested, 4while Abel brought the best parts of some of the firstborn from his flock. The LORD looked favorably upon Abel and his offering, 5but he did not look favorably upon Cain and his offering.
When Cain became very upset and depressed, 6the LORD asked Cain, “Why are you so upset? Why are you depressed?7If you do what is appropriate, you’ll be accepted, won’t you? But if you don’t do what is appropriate, sin is crouching near your doorway, turning toward you. Now as for you, will you take dominion over it?”
Friend, God knows Cain is about to kill Abel. What does God do? HE CALLED OUT TO CAIN "IF YOU DO WHAT IS APPROPRIATE (bring the correct offering) YOU'LL BE ACCEPTED, WON'T YOU? NOW AS FOR YOU, WILL YOU TAKE DOMINION OVER IT?"
We are all faced with sin choices. We have free will, just as is shown Cain had free will. What will you do with Jesus? Reject Him or obey Him? We are all warned. We are responsible for our choices. Verse 24 above from Galatians tells us the same story. Crucify the flesh (old nature) with its passions and desires. Friend, "NOW AS FOR YOU, WILL YOU TAKE DOMINION OVER IT?"

8Instead, Cain told his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the wilderness.” When they were outside in the fields, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.
