Christian Prostitutes, Richard Wurmbrand and Voice of the Martyrs

Many professing Christians have heard of and even support Richard Wurmbrand and Voice of The Martyrs, but do the same really know what it is spreading to others doctrinally? Probably not! Because Richard Wurmbrand himself believes there are Christian prostitutes, he is shown to be a heretic and deserving of our latest Skull and Crossbones Award.

Solid proof that Voice of the
Martyrs is apostate. He Wurmbrand Says:

I will tell you just one case of suffering of a family that I know personally. A brother entered prison on account of his work in the Underground Church. He left behind a wife with six children. His older daughters of seventeen and nineteen could not get a job. The only one that gives jobs in a Communist country is the state, and it does not give jobs to children of ‘criminal’ Christians. Please don’t judge this story according to moral standards; just receive the facts. The two daughters of a Christian martyr — Christians themselves — becameprostitutes to support their younger brothers and sick mother.Their younger brother of fourteen became insane when he saw it and had to be put in an asylum. When years later the imprisoned father returned, his only prayer was, ‘God, take me to prison again. I cannot bear to see this.’ His prayer was answered and he was jailed again for the crime of having witnessed for Christ to children. His daughters were no longer prostitutes, as they received jobs by complying with the demands of the secret police — they became informers. As daughters of a Christian martyr, they are received with honor in every house. They listen and then they report everything they hear to the secret police. Don’t just say that this is ugly and immoral — of course it is — but ask yourself if it is not also your sin that such tragedies occur, that such Christian families are left alone, and are not helped by you who are free. (Richard Wurmbrand, Tortured For Christ, Hodder & Stoughton, 1967, pp. 48,49, bold emphasis mine)

Richard Wurmbrand Smears The
Holy Image of a Christian

Richard Wurmbrand joined the crowd to smear and reduce the holy image of a Christian to a possible prostitute and/or betrayer of Christians! But that’s not all! He tries to heap their sin and blame of that ugly and immoral behavior onto non supporters of Voice of the Martyrs for not donating financially to Voice Of The Martyrs! If Richard Wurmbrand was sound he wouldn’t distort the image of Christianity that way or try to pass the blame of a backslider’s immorality on to others who he thinks should be supporting his ministry, but aren’t! He implies the remedy is money and will prevent immorality and unfaithfulness. Perhaps Richard Wurmbrand never noticed in the same poor family, the father has remained a faithful Christian, even though jailed, yet is financially impoverished as the daughters! Dear reader, please note there are NO Bible verses which even suggest money will prevent sexual immorality as Voice of the Martyrs wants us to believe. Especially remember God’s word doesn’t say one can be sexually immoral and a Christian simultaneously! Do NOT be deceived.

The Only Way Richard Wurmbrand Could Believe in Christian Prostitutes

Finally, the only way Richard Wurmbrand could possibly believe there are Christian prostitutes is if he believes in the popular false gospel and doctrine of demons commonly called once saved always saved. [Antinomian Laurence Vance also believes there could be Christian prostitutes, so Richard Wurmbrand is not alone!] The truth is, Richard Wurmbrand is part of the present worldwide apostasy preceding the rise of Antichrist, while he also shockingly presents donating to his own ministry as the solution for immorality in some cases! 2 Pet. 2:14,15 says false teachers who have followed the way of Balaam are experts in greed! The Bible condemns an ungodly tolerance with false teachers.

[In April 2012 Voice Of The Martyrs director, Tom White, may have committed suicideamid an abuse probe by police involving a 10 year old female.

TULSA, Okla. — Oklahoma authorities are investigating whether the executive director of an international Christian ministry killed himself amid allegations he’d molested a 10-year-old girl, police said Monday….Police found the 64-year-old’s body at the organization’s Bartlesville headquarters Wednesday. Employees discovered a letter in White’s vehicle indicating he was “suicidal or possibly fleeing to avoid investigation” and turned it over to police, Hastings said. “You can take it either way,” Hastings said. “It was kind of a goodbye letter. You don’t know if he was talking about himself.”

Gospel For Asia is NOT Sound!

The organization called Gospel For Asia (and K. P. Yohannan) gets our Skull And Crossbones Award for spreading the once saved always saved teaching. Gospel for Asia desires to spread the gospel to all the world but they have a FALSE gospel! That fact about Gospel For Asia was recently brought to our attention through an email forwarded to us. Here is what Jim Hill, the representative of Gospel For Asia wrote:

        Greetings in the precious name of Jesus.

Thank your for your email regarding eternal security. We at Gospel for Asia know that the subject of eternal security is controversial....We don’t believe that whether or not a person can lose their salvation is a foundational issue of Christianity and as such, we do not take a dogmatic position on the subject.

We believe that the Scriptures are the source that we should look to for our doctrine. The Scriptures teach that whoever believes in Jesus has eternal life (John 3:16). We believe that whoever has repented from their sins and put their trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior has eternal life and can be secure in that. We don’t believe that if someone sins, they lose their salvation and need to be resaved.

We believe in the security of the believer but we also believe in the “perseverance of the saints”.... We believe that the important thing is not whether or not they lost their salvation but that they repent and get into a right relationship with God.

... In the areas where GFA [Gospel For Asia] missionaries are working, things are very different. People living in areas where there is persecution know that there will be a cost to becoming a Christian. Most will face some form of persecution. Some will be beaten. Many will be rejected by their families and lose their jobs and homes—and some will even lose their lives. Because of this, Christianity is not something that is entered into lightly. People count the cost when they receive Jesus Christ and as a result are not likely to make half-hearted commitments to follow Him....

Please note how a PAST MOMENT OF REPENTANCE (has repented) is the goal of GFA [Gospel For Asia] and all once saved always saved teachers. It is NOT where a person is NOW, but were they ever saved—did they ever repent! Gospel For Asia claims they aren’t dogmatic about this, but they teach dogmatically! He wrote:

      We don’t believe that if someone sins, they lose their salvation and need to be resaved.

Gospel For Asia claims the people they witness to count the cost in coming to Jesus, but what happens if a Christian later disowns Jesus and goes back to his old life before he repented? Gospel For Asia would say they are still saved, even though they are again idolaters, drunks, adulterers, etc. Their doctrine destroys the need for such to repent again forsalvation’s sake and has, consequently, led to multitudes being damned to hell. It is also disturbing to ponder that such an organization calls itself Gospel For Asia, when they really deny and contradict part of the real gospel:

By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. (1 Cor 15:2)

WARNING! The CONDITIONAL Security In The Full Gospel
Is DANGEROUSLY Avoided By Gospel For Asia

1 Cor. 15:2 is not included in the gospel that is preached by Gospel For Asia! So, which gospel do they believe in and are spreading? ANSWER: The WRONG one! They also wrongly say the believer’s security is not foundational to Christianity:

We don’t believe that whether or not a person can lose their salvation is a foundational issue of Christianity.

Again, how can they say that since the believer’s conditional security is linked to the real gospel itself (1 Cor. 15:2)?! That does make it foundational to Christianity, since the gospel message is very essential. John 3:16 shows it takes a CONTINUOUS TENSE “belief” in Jesus to have eternal life. If one stops believing, which is definitely possible (Lk. 8:13; 1 Tim. 1:19,20; 2 Tim. 2:18; Rom. 11:19-23), he is not described in John 3:16 anymore.

Gospel For Asia is Fatally FLAWED

Finally, if a person gets saved through any OSAS group, including Gospel For Asia, he will NOT: (1) be warned that if he turns to evil he will die spiritually, or (2) be taught safeguards to prevent his own spiritual death. Peter declared, if a saved person turns away from God, it is worse for him than before he came to God:

If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them. Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed goes back to her wallowing in the mud.” (2 Pet 2:20-22)

Why doesn’t Gospel For Asia just teach as they did in first century Christianity? They certainly knew the spread the gospel meaning:

We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first. (Heb. 3:14)

Heb. 3:14 is a passage rejected and avoided by many, including Gospel For Asia and K. P. Yohannan, to the harm of those who listen to them.

Blood Moons: An End-Times Sign?

Four Blood Moons, a theatrical one-night event scheduled for March 23, 2015, and based on Texas megachurch pastor John Hagee’s New York Times bestseller of the same name, has garnered attention. I’m featured briefly in the film as a skeptic of Hagee’s central claim that a sequence of four total lunar eclipses signifies that “world history is about to change,” bringing about the rapid fulfillment of a biblical end-times prophecy. I’m also included in a 20-minute panel discussion on the movie that was recorded at Hagee’s San Antonio headquarters.

Hagee knew in advance my views on his claims and I’m impressed that he would allow a “skeptic” of his view to participate. For that, he is to be commended.

The biblical basis for the four blood moons claim as an eschatological event appears in Joel 2:31, which states, “The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.” The scientific basis rests on the fact that often during a total lunar eclipse, the Moon, as seen from Earth’s surface, takes on an orange or red hue (see figures 1 and 2).

My greater concern centers on biblical, rather than scientific, misinterpretations of the blood-moon sign, and I will address those in part 2. First I will address the science and history of lunar eclipses.

Scientific Concerns

John Hagee, Mark Biltz of El Shaddai Ministries, and Larry Huch of Larry Huch Ministries note in their books¹ and television broadcasts that in 1493–94, 1949–50, and 1967–68, a series of four (tetrad) total lunar eclipses occurred on the dates for the Jewish Passover and Tabernacles festivals. Each of these eclipse tetrads occurred within a year or two of significant events in Jewish history. In 1492, Columbus landed in America, which later became a haven for persecuted Jews. In 1948, the nation of Israel was founded. In 1967, the Six-Day War brought the Old City and its temple site under Israeli control. Thus, the authors claim that another eclipse tetrad on the dates of the Passover and Tabernacles festivals in 2014–15 is an unmistakable sign that an important end-times event is upon us.

All three authors insist that an occurrence of four total lunar eclipses on the Passover and Tabernacles dates is rare and unexpected. As an astronomer, I beg to differ. First, lunar eclipses are common. Two to five lunar eclipses, including partial eclipses, occur every year. The number of total lunar eclipses ranges from zero to three per year.

Second, lunar eclipses can occur only when the Moon is exactly at the full moon phase. Likewise, the dates for the Passover and Tabernacles festivals are determined by when the Moon is at a full moon phase just after the spring equinox (Passover) and just after the fall equinox (Tabernacles). Lunar eclipses are most frequently spaced about six months apart; so it isn’t surprising that eclipse tetrads occur on the Passover and Tabernacles dates.

Third, unlike solar eclipses, total lunar eclipses can be seen as total from anywhere on Earth’s night side. Since age ten, I’ve resided in locations where 34 total lunar eclipses were visible and have personally witnessed over a dozen.

Fourth, an orange-red hue is the most common color of a totally eclipsed moon. The illumination observed on these occasions is sunlight passing through Earth’s atmosphere and refracted into Earth’s shadow. This light appears reddish because red light is of longer wavelength than blue, green, and yellow light and penetrates Earth’s atmosphere more easily. If the part of Earth’s atmosphere that refracts light on the eclipsed moon is exceptionally overcast or smoky, the eclipsed moon will be much dimmer and more brownish. The normative color, however, is a copper or reddish hue.

Historical Concerns

Hagee, Biltz, and Huch do acknowledge that lunar eclipses are common. They claim the sequence of four consecutive total lunar eclipses is rare. But why four? I imagine they would’ve been equally impressed had the events of 1492, 1948, and 1967 corresponded with a sequence of two, three, or five sets of total lunar eclipses. Varying the number in a sequence raises the probability of finding a match with significant historical events dramatically. I found no statistical significance in the claimed correlations² because of: (1) the subjective nature of what ranks as a significant historical event; (2) the ± 2-year date matches; and (3) the possible variability of the number in the sequence.

Moreover, total lunar eclipse tetrads occurred on Passover and Tabernacle festival dates in AD 162–63, 795–96, 841–43, and 860–61, during which no outstanding events in Jewish history happened. Finally, of the 16 lunar eclipses that occurred or will occur in 1493–94, 1949–50, 1967–68, and 2014–15, only the first and third in the 1493–94 sequence and only the third in the 1949–50 sequence appeared as blood moons in Israel. For the current tetrad, the only location where all four eclipses will be visible as blood moons is a small region in northern Baja California, Mexico.

Unlike Biltz, Huch, and others, Hagee remains ambiguous about what kind of event qualifies as significant both to Jewish history and to biblical end-times prophecy. His ambiguity virtually guarantees that later this year he can claim that his hypothesis has been proven correct. Has there ever been a year since 1948 when some momentous historical event has not occurred in Israel? Assuming a premillennial eschatological perspective and given that the book of Ezekiel prophesies much about Israel’s second rebirth, Hagee won’t have difficulty in finding a correlation. I can name several significant events since the beginning of 2014: the increasing exodus of Jews from Europe to Israel; the rise of ISIS; Israel’s worsening relationships with Iran and the United States; increasing success and prosperity of Israel’s technology sector; and the need for land to accommodate the rising Jewish population in Israel.

These three men have several “outs” if the 2014–15 eclipse tetrad doesn’t usher in events prophesied in the books of Daniel and Revelation, events that precede the second coming of Christ. Eight more total lunar eclipse tetrads will occur in what remains of the twenty-first century. It is simply a matter of time before a correlation occurs. When that happens, such Bible teachers can adjust and rewrite, but skeptics will not be impressed and the cause of Christ will be hampered. By focusing on what scientific and biblical data we do know, believers can better help humanity and honor Christ.

The Christian Life From 1 Timothy

The Christian life is NOT an easy downhill slide into the kingdom of God! This is very apparent throughout the NT, especially in 1 Timothy. 1 Timothy is known as a pastoral epistle.All throughout this epistle, Paul gave Timothy instructions to pass on to other Christians regarding how to pray, how women are to dress, how to pick deacons, how to view riches, among other values and church concerns. Besides all of that, this epistle (just like the Book of Hebrews) especially reveals that there is no such thing as the doctrine is called in our day eternal security. (There are very few, if any, arguments for eternal security that come from 1 Timothy. The eternal security teachers remain silent about this Pauline epistle and even seem to avoid it, when dealing with Paul’s grace message about the believer's security.) Let’s take a closer look at eight passages regarding the Christian battle and salvation that were basic in the days of first-century Christianity:

As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain men not to teach false doctrines any longer nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. These promote controversies rather than God's work - which is by faith. The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. Some have wandered away from these and turned to meaningless talk. (1 Tim 1:3-6).

Apostasy Occurs Among Christians And Is Revealed Throught The Entire NT

Paul had Timothy stay in Ephesus for an express purpose - to command certain men not to teach false doctrines any longer nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. After he stated this, he then revealed something about himself and the goal of that charge to Timothy which was love and that came from Paul’s pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. This is Paul’s autobiographical sketch of himself and the exact opposite to the typical way the once saved always saved [OSAS] teachers like to portray him. Paul was a holy man, who taught holy living. See 1 Thess. 2:10. Paul, as a Christian, was NOT the worst of sinners. After all of that, Paul sadly refers to some, whom he knew, that wandered away from the same kind of pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith that he had, which testifies beyond all doubt to the fact that they were previously saved. See Acts 15:9; Heb. 9:9 and 10:22. Clearly, those men were no longer saved as is evident by their changed heart, conscience and faith. In other words, they lost their salvation, even though they had been previously sealed by the Holy Spirit, received the gift of eternal life and had been saved by grace.
That kind of teaching was original Christianity, but is essentially lost or denied in our dark day by wolves standing behind the pulpits.

Hymenaeus and Alexander

A second passage to note is the following one:

Timothy, my son, I give you this instruction in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by following them you may fight the good fight, holding on to faith and a good conscience. Some have rejected these and so have shipwrecked their faith. Among them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan to be taught not to blaspheme. (1 Tim 1:18-20)

Paul again mentions faith and a good conscience. He told Timothy that it was his own personal responsibility to hold on to these for his own salvation’s sake - so his saving faith wouldn’t become shipwrecked. (God wasn’t going to hold on to these for him.) Paul added because Hymenaeus and Alexander didn’t do this very thing, their faith did become shipwrecked and they were now blaspheming! Paul knew that same horrible end could occur to Timothy (or any Christian person in our modern day) and gave the cited safeguards to prevent such, which were all under the original grace message. In other words, Hymenaeus and Alexander both had (past tense) what Timothy had (present tense) at that moment as a Christian, but Paul knew Timothy could lose it.Timothy apparently acted on these vital safeguards, as Paul taught him here, for later Paul mentions Timothy’s sincere faith, which he was apparently still holding on to:

I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. (2 Tim 1:5)

The Warning About Picking Overseers

Passage three is the following one:

He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. (1 Tim 3:6)

The context of verse 6 starts at chapter 3, verse 1. The subject is the spiritual qualifications for overseers in a local assembly. Paul states his godly concerns that a spiritual fatality, throughpride, could occur if a new Christian is given such a high position. (Sometimes the most zealous and outspoken Christian around is a new Christian. His sincere faith and love for spiritual things are contagious and attractive to others who love the truth.) Hence, Paul told Timothy not to give this position to new converts for their own soul’s sake regardless how well they might be received or needed to fill that office. Such a violation on Timothy’s part could stumble the new Christian to the place where he will be damned, just as the devil himself will be. (Rev. 20:10 shows the devil’s end.) The word translated judgment in the NIV or condemnation in the KJV has the meaning of damnation and is found in Jude 4, describing the destiny of the teachers who change grace into a license for immorality.Again, it is crystal clear that Paul wrote of the possibility of loss of salvation, through the sin of pride. (Pride precedes a fall, Prov. 16:18.) Had Paul believed in eternal security it would have been impossible for him to warn to this degree. (Notice: If such a new Christian would be spiritually stumbled like that, it wouldn’t be because he was predestined for such a sin or fall. Such a spiritual fatality could be avoided by knowledge and proper procedure.)

Apostasy in the Last Days

Passage four is:

The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. (1 Tim 4:1)

Only in a dark day when ignorance of the Scriptures is prevailing could so-called teachers get away with saying that one can abandon the faith and never be in the faith (as some teach) or remain saved (as others teach). Such is the hour in which we live. Paul openly wanted Christians to know the real truth that some people, who had been washed in the blood of Jesus from their sin and received salvation, would afterwards turn and follow doctrines of demons! (The Apostle knew a true Christian could be deceived doctrinally and become heretical.) NOTE: The same Greek word translated abandon (NIV) or depart (KJV) in 1 Tim. 4:1 is also found in Luke 8:13, which also describes what Jesus said happens to a true believer who stops believing and consequently falls away.

Timothy, This is How
To Save Yourself and Your Hearers

Passage five:

Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers. (1 Tim 4:16)

Paul stressed life (behavior) and doctrine (teaching) in his epistles and especially here in this passage. Such would be exceptionally vital for someone like Timothy, who was a preacher. By persevering in a holy life and sound teaching, Timothy would save himself, as well as those he would teach. This, however, is not the norm in our day. Again, Paul taught a Christian has free will and human responsibility in his own salvation and will likewise affect others around him. (1 Tim. 4:16 is a good Scripture for all pastors and teachers to memorize.)

Some Christian Widows Turned Away to Follow Satan

Passage six deals with Paul’s directives for younger widows, those under sixty years of age:

So I counsel younger widows to marry, to have children, to manage their homes and to give the enemy no opportunity for slander. Some have in fact already turned away to follow Satan. (1 Tim 5:14,15)

Paul actually knew of some Christian widows that turned away from following Jesus to follow Satan. (Paul never even suggested that if such occurs then you can be sure they were never saved to begin with, as some might in our day.) It is painfully clear that the very widows that turned away previously had a dedication to Christ:

As for younger widows, do not put them on such a list. For when their sensual desires overcome their dedication to Christ, they want to marry. Thus they bring judgment on themselves, because they have broken their first pledge. (1 Tim 5:11,12)

The ones Paul knew went from dedication to Christ to a follower of Satan (again). Timothy could help prevent more spiritual tragedies like that by not allowing younger Christian widows to be placed on the widow’s list. No widow was to be put on such a list unless she was over sixty years of age (v. 9).

A Warning to People Who Want to get Rich

Passage seven deals with deadly spiritual dangers that come from the desire to get rich:

People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursuerighteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. (1 Tim 6:9-11)

Again, Paul mentions more sad cases. This time he refers to other former Christians he knew that wandered away from their salvation, because of their desire to get rich. (Paul knew of many people that did not stay saved, but that turned from their own salvation, apart from God’s will, and got back on the road to damnation once again.)Note: The Greek word translated destruction in 1 Tim 6:9 is also found in Mt. 7:13 and refers to hell.
(1 Tim. 6:9-11 is also a primary refutation to the present day Prosperity message, another deadly but popular false teaching. Paul told Timothy to flee the desire to be personally rich and told him what to pursue, which is much more important and lasting.)

More Wanderers From the Faith

The eighth passage is:

Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, which some have professed and in so doing have wandered from the faith. Grace be with you. (1 Tim 6:20, 21)

Finally, another warning of life or death magnitude is given about godless talk and teachings that are contradictory to Scripture, which could lead to the spiritual downfall of even Timothy himself, as it did for other Christians. See also 2 Tim. 2:16. He was, therefore, solemnly instructed by Paul to turn away from such.

Summary

As Paul fought legalism he also taught a conditional security for the believer simultaneously. Hence, to teach against legalism is not to teach eternal security, like many have been deceived to think by the savage wolves themselves. Without a doubt, Paul taught as only a conditional security teacher could. He knew many that turned from their salvation over various temptations and doctrines.Secondly, Paul never even implied that the named or unnamed people who turned away to follow Satan, abandoned the faith, wandered away from a pure heart, good conscience and sincere faith, etc. were never saved to begin with, as some OSAS people would want us all to believe. In fact, Paul stressed the opposite. Those people were previously saved and the same horrible thing can happen to any Christian, including Timothy and YOU the Christian reader. Face the facts. (Paul also knew that such could happen to even himself, an apostle, 1 Cor. 9:27, as it did happen to the Apostle Judas Iscariot.)
Thirdly, a Christian’s future sins are not already forgiven before he commits them, like some think. If they were, then those referred to in 1 Tim 1:5,6 could never have wandered away from apure heart, which happened.
Finally, as Jesus taught about the various things that can happen to people who hear the word of God in the Parable of the Sower (Luke 8:4-15), Paul similarly mentioned many of the spiritual fatalities he was personally aware of in 1 Timothy, and elsewhere. He wanted the disturbing, unpopular truth known, so Christian people would be more on their guard against false teachers and sin and keep themselves pure (1 Tim. 5:22) from sin's defilements. Dear reader, this life for the Christian is a spiritually risky one, which is lived in a hostile environment filled with sin and deception. Don’t let anyone convince you otherwise. There are many spiritual dangers through sin and false doctrines that can stumble true Christians to the point where they lose their salvation, go back into sin as a dog returns to his vomit (2 Pet. 2:22); etc. Therefore, the Christian must constantly remain on his spiritual guard for his own salvation’s sake, as well as for his effect on others. May no one who reads this ever be deceived into thinking differently, even if pseudo-scholarly persuasion would come from popular ear-tickling eternal security savage wolves in sheep's clothing, who will deny and distort these precious eternal facts of the Christian life.
