The Real Charles Finney

Charles Finney Skull and Crossbones AwardWho was Charles Finney? To many he was the epitome of the way a preacher should preach. In fact, some people who soundly reject and oppose Calvinism make a very serious Scriptural mistake by reading the works from people of the past, who are held up in our apostate day as great men of God, rather than getting their Christian beliefs exclusively from studying the Bible (2 Tim. 3:16,17). Sadly, one such person of the past who has been almost idolized in an infallibleway by some, is Charles Finney (1792-1875)!

SHOCKING What Charles Finney Taught About The Hypocrite and Backslidden Christian

Charles Finney
Charles Finney (of the so-called Second Great Awakening) and known for real revial was not nearly as Biblically sound as what many conditional security people have been told. To be more precise, Charles Finney’s true repentance teaching is dangerously unscriptural. I submit the following documentation as proof and for your examination. Under the subheading of, true repentance is a permanent change of character and conduct we read:

...The individual, who has truly repented, has so changed his views and feelings, that he will not change back again, or go back to the love of sin. Bear this in mind now, all of you, that the truly penitent sinner exercises feelings of which he never will repent. The text says it is “unto salvation.” It goes right on, to the very rest of heaven. The very reason why it ends in salvation is because it is such as will not be repented of. And here I cannot but remark, that you see why the doctrine of the Saints’ Perseverance is true, and what it means. True repentance is such a thorough change of feelings, and the individual who exercises it comes so to abhor sin, that he will persevere of course, and not go and take back all his repentance and return to sin again. (Charles Finney, Lectures To Professing Christians, Lecture IX. 1836, TRUE AND FALSE REPENTANCE by the Rev. Charles Finney)

charles finney
Concisely stated, you just read that Charles Finney believes the following:

   ● The real Christian (who truly repented) will not return to sin.

   ● The Perseverance of the Saints is true.

That is the only way his writings here can be understood, but then further on in the same lecture he contradicts what we just focused on and confuses his listeners.

Read This To Understand The TRUE Repentance Definition

Charles Finney on
The Backslidden Christian vs The Hypocrite

Carefully read the following and observe how Charles Finney wrongly divided the word of truth. Don’t be deceived about the soundness of Charles Finney:

.... There is a radical difference between a backslidden Christian and a hypocrite who has gone back from his profession. The hypocrite loves the world, and enjoys sin when he returns to it. He may have some fears and some remorse, and some apprehension about the loss of character; but after all he enjoys sin. Not so with the backslidden Christian. He loses his first love, then he falls a prey to temptation, and so he goes into sin. But he does not love it; it is always bitter to him; he feels unhappy and away from home. He has indeed, at the time, no Spirit of God, no love of God in exercise to keep him from sin, but he does not love sin; he is unhappy in sin; he feels that he is a wretch. He is as different from the hypocrite as can be. Such an one, when he leaves the love of God, may be delivered over to Satan for a time, for the destruction of the flesh, that the Spirit may be saved; but he can never again enjoy sin as he used to, or delight himself as he once could in the pleasures of the world. Never again can he drink in iniquity like water. So long as he continues to wander, he is a wretch. If there is one such here tonight, you know it. (ibid.)

There Charles Finney taught the hypocrite (who was never saved) enjoys his sins, while the backslidden Christian doesn’t! They can both be sinning the same way, but the distinguishing characteristic between the unsaved and the backslidden Christian, who is still saved in his sins, is the latter isn’t happy in his wickedness! Such shamefully and dangerously false teaching is far from the Biblical whole counsel of God, which declares if the righteous man turns to evil he will die spiritually for it. If he can enjoy his sins or not is never an issue! No Scripture can be cited for that.

Like Charles Finney, David Wilkerson Was NOT Sound Either

How could Charles Finney forget about the Scriptural ways we can tell a real Christian from a child of the devil and the possibility that a Christian can return to sin as a dog to his vomit (2 Peter 2:20-22)? In contrast to the unscriptural possible image of a Christian which Charles Finney presents through his backslidden Christian (saved person in wickedness) just described, the Bible says:

Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. He who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. He who does what is sinful is of the devil.... (1 John 3:7,8)

This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother. (1 John 3:10)

Here Are The Facts About True Holiness Preaching

Reader, did you notice that nothing is cited there about loving sin or not? It simply states that one can be identified as a child of God or a child of the devil by his present tense behavior!

Charles Finney not only flatly contradicted his earlier unscriptural statement that true repentance results with never returning to sin again, but also leaves one with the following demonicpossibility by endorsing the perseverance of the saints:
Two men, both guilty of adultery, murder and lying (as backslidden King David was when he was dead and lost spiritually) live in the same neighborhood. The happy one who is enjoying his adultery, murder and lying is a person who was never saved, while the other man, who is not enjoying his wicked abominations, is a backslidden Christian, as he remains on the road to heaven! Remember, Charles Finney taught he would still be a Christian, though a backslider, and the perseverance of the saints is true! That is Charles Finney's teaching! Do you still think his teachings are so great and worthy of deep study?
The Bible teaches that the Christian walk is hard (Mt. 7:14) with many persecutions, problems and deceptions coming to the follower of Jesus through the devil and his servants. The Christian must remain guarded at all times. It is his responsibility under grace to hold on, keep and guard himself. If he is negligent or gets deceived, he can lethally fall (Heb. 6:6; Lk. 8:13; 1 Tim. 4:1; etc.), return as a dog to his vomit to his past way of life and sins (2 Peter 2:20-22), and become God’s enemy again (James 4:4) among other horrible things. Many Christians, who had true repentance, later lost their salvation (Mt. 24:10). Charles Finney promoters are misleading people by exalting him.

Charles Finney Has Stumbled Others By His Teaching

The aforementioned proves that Charles Finney was not a sound teacher, as commonly believed. Only God knows how many have been misled about the perseverance of the saints and true repentance by reading his materials, instead of drawing all teachings from the Bible (2 Tim. 3:16). For the sake of all people who want the truth on repentance and even a repentance prayer, please consider what Hosea wrote:
Return, O Israel, to the LORD your God. Your sins have been your downfall! Take words with you and return to the LORD. Say to him: "Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously, that we may offer the fruit of our lips. Assyria cannot save us; we will not mount war-horses. We will never again say 'Our gods' to what our own hands have made, for in you the fatherless find compassion." (Hosea 14:1-3)

Instant Ministry Anyone?

In conclusion, for all the new Christians who want an instant ministry and hope to quickly gain a sound understanding of Scripture by reading Charles Finney, please trash that idea along with his materials and read, ponder and memorize Scripture. Glue yourself to the Bible. Especially focus in upon the New Testament. If you don't, your theology will probably get warped and you may start thinking that original sin is man's greatest problem, when it is only tiny compared to other much greater issues such as sin itself, which is not the same.

Those who claim to stand opposed to the perseverance of the saints teaching are actually supporting and promoting that license for immorality and Calvinism by furthering the confused, contradictory and false teachings of Charles Finney on true repentance as just proven! Remember: to endorse the perseverance of the saints (once saved always saved) is to promote a license for immorality if it is done by Charles Finney or anyone else. Christians are to proclaim true Biblical holiness, which is not consistent with what Charles Finney taught here. God bless you.

Living With The Horrible Guilt Of Adultery

Living With The Horrible Guilt Of Adultery

[Bible Question about adultery] I'm seeking answers and listening for the word of God. I hope you can help me.guilt of adultery I am a Christian woman who fell into the temptation of Satan five years ago, I fell in love with someone else, abandoned my husband of 25 years and entered into an adulterous relationship with a high school sweetheart.
Believe it or not, I actually convinced myself that God was leading me in this direction for my own happiness because I was so terribly depressed and unhappy. I can't believe how incredibly foolish I was.
adultery guiltSoon, I realized the terrible error of my ways, I repented and asked for forgiveness for my sin, both from God and my husband. But I still can't seem to forgive myself. I live everyday with the horrible guilt of what I have done. My husband says that he forgives me, but he doesn't want me back. He says he still loves me in Christ, but does not want to get back together as husband and wife; I can't blame him.
I know that according to the bible he could divorce me for the sins of adultery and abandonment, but he doesn't want to do it. And even though I was the one who left him, I don't really want a divorce either, but I just don't know what to do. I can't get back together with him because he doesn't want me anymore, I have no biblical basis for divorce so I can't divorce him without committing a further sin, and I can't move on with my life or develop a new relationship with someone else because I am still legally and morally married.

READ THIS: Guilty And Heartbroken Over Sexual Sin!

I am stuck in limbo ... so does that mean am I doomed to be alone for the rest of my life as punishment for my sin? Can I ever hope to remarry? ...Am I supposed to resist the temptations of the flesh forever? (or is that a stupid question?) And how does this terrible mistake affect my eternal salvation? Am I truly forgiven, or am I really damned forever?
...I know God's law says "Thou shalt not commit adultery" and I know that in the old testament days, adulterers were stoned to death. I know that the wages of sin are death, but if Jesus came to save us from our sins, then whosoever shall truly believe in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. So, if I confess that I am a sinner, repent, ask Jesus to forgive me, and sin no more ... am I truly saved, or am I still damned forever for my sin?
I can't seem to figure this out or get any peace on these questions. Please help me understand God's word on this matter.
A Repentant Sinner

Bible Answer: Greetings in Jesus' name. We are very sorry and saddened by your letter. When the devil tempts people to sin, he never tells them of the pain and regret and sorrow that goes along with the sin. But then he is the enemy and we should not expect him to do such. You mentioned that your husband forgives you but will not take you back because of your adultery. The best thing for you to do is to seek God in prayer to change his heart. Yes it is possible to be forgiven for your adultery and him not to take you back. So that is not the issue here. The issue is him accepting you back, which obviously he does not have to do. Also ponder this: You stated you are single. That is unscriptural, since he is still alive. Also, if you continue to pray and show him that you have changed and sincerely want to come back and remain faithful, he may have a change of heart. If he doesn't, you are still bound to him under the law of marriage. See Rom. 7:1-3:
Do you not know, brothers -- for I am speaking to men who know the law -- that the law has authority over a man only as long as he lives? For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law of marriage. So then, if she marries another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress, even though she marries another man.
If your husband never decides to take you back, the following would apply to you:
To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. (1 Cor 7:9,10)
... Again, adulterers can get forgiven as King David proves when he repented, but in the same breath, you must be reminded that David paid for his sin the rest of his natural life! The most important thing that you have is your soul. It is eternal. Don't risk going to hell by doing something unscriptural for sinful gratification. Remember the words of the Lord Jesus:
What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? (Mark 8:36)
[Folks, Adultery results in spiritual death and great regret. DO NOT TAKE A CHANCE!]

Loving God With All Our Heart: What Does It Mean? - Anastasios Kioulachoglou

Loving God with all our heart: what does it mean?

Pharisees and scribes tried many times to tempt Jesus with various questions. Others again were asking genuinely, seeking for answers. There is one question which was tried 2 times from 2 different people, one who wanted to learn and one who wanted to tempt. It is the question of which commandment is the biggest of all. Let’s read the related passages:
Matthew 22:35-38
“And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?" And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.”
Mark 12:28-30
“And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, asked him, "Which commandment is the most important of all?" Jesus answered, "The most important is, 'Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'”

1. Loving God: what does it mean?

As we read, loving God with all our heart is the most important commandment. But what does it mean? Unfortunately we are living in an age where the word love has ended up meaning just a feeling. Loving somebody is confused to mean “feeling good about them”. However “feeling good about” somebody does not necessarily constitute love in biblical terms. For in biblical terms love is tightly connected to doing, and specifically of loving God to doing what God wants i.e. His commandments, His will. Jesus made this very plain when He said:
John 14:15
If you love me, keep my commandments.”
And John 14:21-24
Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him." Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, "Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?" Jesus answered him, "If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words.”
Also in Deuteronomy 5:8-10 (see also Exodus 20:5-6) we read:
“You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them; for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.”
Loving God and keeping His commandments, the Word of God, are things inseparable to each other. Jesus made it absolutely clear. The one who loves Him keeps the Word of God and the one who does not keep the Word of God does not love Him. Loving God then, the top commandment, does not mean I feel nice sitting in my pew on a Sunday morning. What it rather means is I try to do what pleases God, what makes God happy. And this is a daily matter.
1 John contains further passages that hammer out what it means to love God.
1 John 4:19-21
“We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.”
1 John 5:2-3
“By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandmentsFor this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.”
1 John 3:22-23
“and whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him. And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us.”
There are various fallacies going around in today’s Christianity. One very serious is the false idea that God does not care about whether we will be doing or not His commandments, His will. According to this fallacy, all that matters for God is that one moment when we started in the “faith”. “Faith” and “loving God” have been separated from practical matters and are considered sort of theoretical notions, mind states, which can exist separately of how one lives. But faith means to be faithful. You have to BE something, if you have faith. And what you have to be is faithful. And the faithful one cares to please the one to whom He is faithful i.e. he cares to do His will, His commandments.
Something else that becomes apparent from the above is that the favor and love of God are not really unconditional, as some would have us believe. This we see in the above passages too. So in John 14:23 we read:
“Jesus answered him, "If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.”
Also in 1 John 3:22
“and whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him.”
And in Deuteronomy 5:9-10
“You shall not bow down to them or serve them; for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.”
In John 14:23 there is an “if” and there is an “and”. If anyone loves Jesus, he will keep His Word, AND, as a result, the Father will love him and He together with His Son will come and make their home in him. Also in 1 John, we receive whatever we ask from Him, because we keep His commandments and do what pleases Him. Also in Deuteronomy, the steadfast love of God is shown to the ones who love Him and keep His commandments. There is a clear link then between the love and favor of God and the doing of the will of God. To say it differently let us not think that disobeying God, neglecting His Word and His commandments, does not really matter, because God loves us anyway. Also let us not think that because we say we love God we actually love Him. I think whether we love God or not is shown by the answer to the following simple question: Do we do what pleases Him, His Word, His commandments? If the answer is yes, then we love God. If the answer is no, then we do not love Him. It is as simple as that.
John 14:23-24
If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, ….. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words.”

2. “But I don’t feel doing the will of God”: The case of the two brothers

Another area of confusion, when it comes to doing the will of God, is the idea that we should do the will of God only if we feel doing it. But if we don’t feel doing it then we are excused, for, supposedly, God wouldn’t want us to do something if we don’t feel doing it. But tell me something: do you go to work always because you feel it? Do you get up in the morning and think whether you feel going to work and depending on whether you feel it or not you pull yourself out of bed or deeper under the blankets? Is this how you are doing it? I don’t think so. You DO your work regardless of how you feel about it! But when it comes to doing the will of God we have given to feelings too much of a place. Of course God wants us to do His will AND feel doing it, but even if we don’t feel doing it, it is far better to do it anyway than not doing it at all! And to use an example from what the Lord told us, He said: “And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away…” (Matthew 18:9). He did not say: „if your eye causes you to sin, and you feel tearing it out then do it. But if you don’t feel tearing it out then you are - since you don’t feel it – excused. You can leave it there, to continue causing you to sin“. The rotten eye has to be plugged out, either we feel it or not feel it. So also with the will of God: it is the best to do it and feel doing it, but if you don’t feel doing it, do it anyway, instead of disobeying to Him.
But let’s see another example from Matthew. In Matthew 21, Jesus was questioned once again by the chief priests and the elders of the people. To answer one of their questions He gave them the following parable:
Matthew 21:28-31
"What do you think? A man had two sons. And he went to the first and said, 'Son, go and work in the vineyard today.' And he answered, 'I will not,' but afterward he changed his mind and went. And he went to the other son and said the same. And he answered, 'I go, sir,' but did not go. Which of the two did the will of his father?" They said, "The first."
Their answer was correct. The first son did not feel doing the will of his father. He plainly said to him: I will not go to the vineyard today. But then he thought about it and changed his mind. Who knows what caused this change. My guess: his care for his father. He heard his father calling him to do his will, but he didn’t feel doing it. He wanted to sleep more, drink coffee slowly and perhaps go out with his friends. So his first reaction, perhaps out of bed, was to scream “I will not go”. But then he thought of his father and because he loved the father, he changed his mind, pulled himself out of bed and went and did what his father wanted him to do!
The second son on the other hand, he told his father – perhaps also out of bed - “I will go dad”. But then he didn’t! Perhaps he went back to sleep, then called a friend and disappeared doing what he wanted. He may have „felt” doing the will of his father for a moment but feelings come and go. So this “feeling” of doing the will of God was replaced by another “feeling” of something different and then he didn’t go!
Which of these two sons did the will of the father? The one who didn’t feel it in the beginning but he did it anyway, or the one who felt doing it in the beginning but actually didn’t do it? The answer is obvious. Now, we saw previously that loving the Father means doing His will. We could therefore also ask the following: “Which of the two loved the Father?” or “with which of the two was the Father pleased? With the one that told Him that will do His will but didn’t do it or with the one that actually did it?” The answer is obviously the same: with the one who did the His will. Conclusion then: do the will of God, regardless of feelings! Even if the first response is “I will not do it”, “I don’t feel doing it!”, change your mind and go ahead and do it. Yes it is far better to do the will of God and feel doing it, but between not doing the will of the Father and doing it without strongly wanting to do it, the option to be chosen is: I’ll do the will of my Father anyway, because I love my Father and want to please Him.

3. The night in Gethsemane

Now the above does not mean that we cannot or should not speak to the Father and ask Him for other possible options. Our relationship with the Father is a real RELATIONSHIP. The Lord wants the channels of communications with His children-servants always open. What happened in Gethsemane the night Jesus was delivered to be crucified is characteristic. Jesus was in the garden with his disciples and Judas the traitor was coming, together with the servants of the chief priests and of the elders, to arrest Him and crucify Him. Jesus was in agony. He would rather have this cup removed from him. And He asked the Father about it:
Luke 22:41-44
“And he withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and knelt down and prayed, saying, "Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done." And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.”
There is nothing wrong in asking the Father if there is a way out. There is nothing wrong in asking the Father whether you can stay home today and not go to the vineyard! What is wrong is to stay at home anyway without asking Him! This is disobedience. But it is not wrong to ask Him for an exception or another way. In fact if there is no other way, you may get a special encouragement in moving forward and doing His will. Jesus got such an encouragement: “And there appeared to Him and angel strengthening Him”.
Jesus would rather have the cup removed from Him, BUT only if this was the will of God. And in that case it was not. And Jesus accepted this. As He said to Peter after Judas with his company of guards arrived:
John 18:11
“So Jesus said to Peter, "Put your sword into its sheath; shall I not drink the cup that the Father has given me?
Jesus always did what pleased the Father, even if He didn’t feel doing it. And because of this, because He always did what pleased the Father, the Father never left Him alone. As He said:
John 8:29
“And he who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him.”
He is our example. As apostle Paul also tells us in Philippians:
Philippians 2:5-11
“Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a crossTherefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Jesus humbled Himself. He said “not my will but yours be done”. Jesus OBEYED! And the same we should do too. The same mind, the mind of obedience, the mind that says not my will but your will be done, may be in us too. As Paul continues:
Philippians 2:12-13
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
“Therefore my beloved” i.e. because we have such a great example of obedience, Jesus Christ our Lord, let us obey too, working out our salvation with fear and trembling for God is working in us both to will and to do for His good pleasure. And as James says:
James 4:6-10
“Therefore it says, "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble." Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.”

Conclusion

Loving God with all our heart is the most important commandment. But loving God is not a state of the mind, where we “feel nice” about God. Loving God is the same as doing what God wills. There is no such thing as loving God, while at the same time I’m disobedient to Him! There is no such thing as I have faith but I’m not faithful to God! Faith is not a state of mind. Faith in God and His Word equals being faithful to God and His Word. Let’s not believe the fallacy which tries to separate the one from the other. Also the love of God and His favor do come back to those that love Him i.e. to those that do what pleases Him, His will. Furthermore we also saw that it is better to go ahead and do the will of God even if you don’t feel doing, than to disobey God. This does not make us robots without feelings. We can (should) always speak to the Lord and ask Him for another way if we feel that His will is too difficult for us to do and we should take His reply as it is. If there is another way He will provide it. He is the most wonderful Master and Father of all, gracious and good to all His children. And if there is no other way He will encourage us in doing what may seem too difficult to us, exactly as He did to Jesus that night.

Samson and Delilah. A Warning For Us All.

Samson and Delilah

The Samson and Delilah story is a very strange and perplexing account, unless one realizes the potentially blinding and lethal effects of loving an evil person (who may appear innocent)! We have all heard that love is blind.Nowhere is that more clear in scripture, than with the biblical account of Samson and Delilah!

Samson Loved Delilah

In Judges 16, we read the full account of Samson and Delilah up to and including Samson’s demise. Verse 4 is a key in understanding the whole crazy relationship:
Some time later, he [Samson] fell in love with a woman in the Valley of Sorek whose name was Delilah. (Judg 16:4)

Samson Was Blinded By His Love For Delilah

Because Samson loved Delilah and she was willing to betray him for money, samson and delilahthe whole scenario between them becomes clear. Samson was blinded by his love for Delilah and she was relentlessly pursuing the money she would get by betraying him into the hands of the Philistines. That explains how Samson could act like an idiot with Delilah endlessly nagging him for the secret of his great physical strength and repeatedly being exposed as unfaithful to him! He loved Delilah and wanted to be with that rattlesnake of a person like a crazy person! He didn’t realize (was blinded to) the harm Delilah was trying to bring on him by telling her the secret. What a mistake! Samson’s love for Delilah was returned a bitter betrayal, making her one of the most evil women in the Bible! In Samson’s case, it cost him his eye sight, freedom and finally his life! [BTW, Samson didn’t commit suicide like some want to believe. He prayed and left it all up to God.]

What The Tempter Won’t Tell You When He Comes

Lessons To Learn From Samson

Especially Christian singles need to be warned that loving the wrong person could be DEADLY, especially spiritually!samson and delilah Remember also what happened to Solomon, the wisest person who ever lived after the Lord Jesus. Solomon could deal with great political power, great wealth and great knowledge while remaining faithful to God, but LOVE brought him down! Solomon’s pagan but loving wives led him into the vilest idolatry and spiritual death. Their love for him was really love from the devilSolomon’s apostasy began over LOVING idolatrous women (1 Kings 11:1-4). That is similar to Samson and Delilah!Delilah was a money idolater and got her lust fulfilled by betraying Samson.Reader, LOVE CAN BE BLIND — meaning it can block the clear and evident destructive direction such a relationship is leading to, which is clear to observers.
The warmest love from idolaters was certainly not a good exchange for either Samson or Solomon. If we could talk to either Samson or Solomon now, both could give us some additional insights how it happened, what it was like and their deep regrets! How many others over the centuries have clung to their lover all the way to prison, the divorce court, bankruptcy, physical death or even hell? Only God knows. Dear reader, take to heart the potential lethal dangers of the blinding and ensnaring bond of  LOVING the wrong person, which can destroy your life and SOULLearn from the Samson and Delilah account!

King David Declared His Ways To God and God Answered Him. - Anastasios Kioulachoglou

I have declared my ways, and you answered me

This is a phrase we find in Psalms 119:26. David says that he declared his ways to God and God answered him. I believe the "and", after the comma, shows that the answer of God was a result of David declaring his ways. Many of us keep things from God. We have hidden compartments that we never open, even to God.
Many people keep their hurts hidden because it is supposed that all their hurts come due to personal failures and therefore they are not to have any. Others never speak and pray for specific issues or cares because they believe that God does not care about such "trivialities of life", as our cares. Many think such things are to be faced completely by us alone. Others have dreams, fears and desires which they will never reveal to Him. It really sounds like a relationship where one of the sides constantly denies to reveal his/her heart to the other. How do we call such relationships? Shallow, I would say. And this is the relationship that many have with the God of the Bible who is OUR FATHER and loves us with love that went so far as to give His only begotten Son for us (John 3:20).
I believe that openness of heart is a measure that can be used to measure a relationship, and also our relationship with God: our openness of heart determines the degree of relationship we have with Him. How much do you communicate with Him? What do you say to Him? How many of your ways you declare to Him? David declared his ways and I believe by this he means he declared everything. He opened his heart before his Creator and told Him about everything. He wanted to walk on the way of the Lord and asked for the Lord’s help. If it is cares that you keep for yourself, God wants you to cast all of them upon Him. Here is what His Word:
I Peter 5:7
"and all your cares cast upon Him for He cares for you"
and again Philippians 4:6-7
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
In everything, says the Word, let your requests be made known to Him! Are there sins that you keep hidden, because you believe that God would never forgive you for these? Here is what His Word says:
I John 1:8-10
"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us."
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us. But it does require an action from our side. To speak to Him. To confess our sins. To tell Him our wrongs. He is faithful and just to forgive us.
Is it dreams that you hide from Him, for you probably believe that they are not relevant to Him? It may be that dreams are not relevant to the dry, cold and chaotic world in which we live. But they are to the Lord. He thinks for us thoughts that cannot be numbered! It says it in Psalms 40:5:
Psalms 40:5
"Many, O LORD my God, are Your wonderful works Which You have done; And Your thoughts toward us cannot be recounted to You in order; If I would declare and speak of them, They are more than can be numbered"
And again Ephesians 3:20-21
"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen."
Romans 8:31-32
"If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?"
And Psalms 84:11
"For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly."
The thoughts of God for you are more than can be numbered. There is nothing good that He will withhold from those who walk uprightly. He can do for you far beyond what you think, dream or ask. But you have to speak. You have to ask! Relationship requires communication.
Whenever there is no communication there is no relationship. "You do not have because you do not ask", says James (James 4:2). "But does not God know everything?" Some may say it is not a matter of knowing or not. Of course He knows everything. Of course God knows all your cares, sins, dreams, hurts…. He knows it ALL. However, He desires something by asking for full openness of our hearts to Him. And what He desires is communication, fellowship, RELATIONSHIP. And relationship without communication cannot exist. It is not therefore whether God knows it or not. He knows EVERYTHING, but it is matter of communication
David declared all his ways to the Lord and the Lord answered him! Do you want the Lord to answer you? Then take time, time for communication with Him, time of declaring your ways, your requests, dreams, failures or sins to Him. It is guaranteed that He will hear you and He will answer.

100% Scriptural Christian Basics

The following list consists of simple spiritual Christian basics to embrace, treasure and spread to others. You will be blessed if these Christian basics control your earthly life now. They are all simple, but at the same time profoundly powerful. Remember the following:

christian basicsDo not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. (Josh 1:8)

christian basicsIf you acknowledge Jesus before men, Jesus will acknowledge you before the Father (Mt. 10:32)

christian basicsIf you disown Jesus before men, he will disown you before the Father (Mt. 10:33)

christian basicsNo one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also. (1 John 2:23)

christian basicsIf you have the Son, you have life. If you do not have the Son of God, you do not have life. (1 John 5:12)

christian basicsIf you love Jesus, you will obey his commands (Jn. 14:15). If you do not love Jesus you will not obey his commands (John 14:24).

christian basicsIf you obey Jesus’ commands, you have come to know him. (1 John 2:3). If you do not obey Jesus’ commands and claim, “I know him,” you are a liar, and the truth is not in you. (1 John 2:4)

christian basicsIf you love God, you are known by God. (1 Cor 8:3). If you don’t love God you are not known by God.

christian basicsIf you exalt yourself you will be humbled, and if you humble yourself you will be exalted. (Luke 18:14)

christian basicsBeing a slave to sin will lead to [spiritual] death. Being a slave to obedience will lead to righteousness (Rom 6:16)

christian basicsIf you do what is right, you are righteous. If you do what is sinful, you are of the devil (1 John 3:7,8)

This Is The Real Christian Life

christian basicsThe LORD is with you when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you. (2 Chronicles 15:2)

christian basicsIf you are ashamed of Jesus and his words, Jesus will be ashamed of you when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. (Luke 9:26)

christian basicsIf you come near to God, he will come near to you. (James 4:8)

christian basicsIf you remain in Jesus, he’ll remain in you (John 15:4). If anyone does not remain in Jesus, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. (John 15:6)

christian basicsIf you defile your bodily temple, God will destroy you (1 Cor. 3:17).

christian basicsIf you forgive others who sin against you, God will forgive you (Mt. 6:14). If you do not forgive others who sin against you, God will NOT forgive you. (Mt. 6:15)

christian basicsIf you hear Jesus’ words and put them into practice you are like a wise man who built his house on the rock. (Mat 7:24) If you hear Jesus’ words and do not put them into practice you are like a foolish man who built his house on sand. (Mat 7:26)

christian basicsThose who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned. (John 5:29)

christian basicsEvery tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. (Mat 7:19) Every tree that does bear good fruit is not cut down and thrown into the fire.

christian basicsIf you belong to the world, the world will love you as its own. If you do not belong to the world, the world will hate you. (John 15:19)

christian basicsIf you endure being hated for being a Christian to the end you will be saved (Mt. 10:22). If not, you will not be saved.

These Are True Christian Beliefs

christian basicsIf you love the world, the love of the Father is not in you. (1 John 2:15). Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. (James 4:4) If you come out from them and be separate, God will receive you. (2 Cor 6:17)

christian basicsIf you are faithful, even to the point of death, Jesus will give you the crown of life. (Rev 2:10). If you overcome you will not be hurt by the second death. (Rev 2:11)
