Please understand that I am writing this because I search the scriptures for the warnings so that I myself will be challenged to obey God. The passages I quote below, challenge me! I have implemented the protecting of my eyes and ears, but there are other things that Paul said which challenge me greatly.
If you are filling your mind with the cares of this life, are watching trash TV, listening to the world's music, video games, pornography, etc, you most likely do not have the God of peace with you. You may think everything is alright. Your pastor likely reinforces that you are alright each Sunday, as he preaches a different grace than the scriptures, a grace that covers willful continued sinning. He will not warn you. There is a about a 50% chance he watches pornography and a much greater chance he practices polluting his mind with the things of this world.
How in the world can you trust your soul to a man to teach you, especially when you have the written Word of God, the bible.?
Paul tells us clearly what to do and have the God of peace with us in Philippians 4:
- 4Keep on rejoicing in the Lord at all times. I will say it again: Keep on rejoicing! 5Let your gracious attitudec be known to all people. The Lord is near: 6Never worry about anything. Instead, in every situation let your petitions be made known to God through prayers and requests, with thanksgiving. 7Then God’s peace, which goes far beyond anything we can imagine, will guard your hearts and minds in union with the Messiahd Jesus.
- 8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is fair, whatever is pure, whatever is acceptable, whatever is commendable, if there is anything of excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy—keep thinking about these things. 9Likewise, keep practicing these things: what you have learned, received, heard, and seen in me. Then the God of peace will be with you.
