Are You Drifting Away From Christ's Salvation?

Brothers and sisters, there are many warnings in the scriptures about drifting or falling away from the only salvation that exists. That salvation was purchased with the blood of Jesus the Messiah. In our day we have perverted the grace of God and countless preachers teach that grace covers sin.

I have asked believers who are living in sexual sin if they are not afraid of dying and going to hell, only to hear them say "I am under grace". The scriptures teach the opposite. If you offer yourself to to sin, you are a slave to sin. Jesus told us ""No one can serve two masters, because either he will hate one and love the other, or be loyal to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and riches!" Matthew 6:24 ISV

Romans 6 ISV
8Now if we have died with the Messiah,c we believe that we will also live with him, 9for we know that the Messiah,d who was raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has mastery over him. 10For when he died, he died once and for all as far as sin is concerned. But now that he is alive, he lives for God. 11In the same way, you too must continuously consider yourselves dead as far as sin is concerned, but living for God through the Messiahe Jesus.f
  • 12Therefore, do not let sin rule your mortal bodies so that you obey their desires. 13Stop offeringg the parts of your bodyh to sin as instruments of unrighteousness. Instead, offer yourselves to God as people who have been brought from death to life and the parts of your bodyi as instruments of righteousness to God. 14For sin will not have mastery over you, because you are not under Law but under grace.
15What, then, does this mean?j Should we go on sinning because we are not under Law but under grace? Of course not! 16Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17But thank God that, though you were once slaves of sin, you became obedient from your hearts to that form of teaching with which you were entrusted! 18And since you have been freed from sin, you have become slaves of righteousness.
Continuing in Hebrews we see another warning about drifting away from God and the gospel. You cannot drift away from or fall away from a place you never been. If this describes you, repent and turn from your sin and Jesus will forgive you. "because what profit will a person have if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what can a person give in exchange for his life?" Matthew 16:26

Hebrews 2 ISV

1For this reason we must pay closer attention to the things we have heard, or we may drift away, 2because if the message spoken by angels was reliable, and every violation and act of disobedience received its just punishment3how will we escape if we neglect a salvation as great as this? It was first proclaimed by the Lord himself, and then it was confirmed to us by those who heard him,4while God added his testimony through signs, wonders, various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.

5For he did not put the coming world we are talking about under the control of angels. 6Instead, someone has declared somewhere,
“What is man that you should remember him,
or the son of man that you should care for him?
7You made him a little lower than the angels,
yet you crowned him with glory and honor
8and put everything under his feet.”a
Now when Godb put everything under him, he left nothing outside his control. However, at the present time we do not yet see everything put under him. 9But we do see someone who was made a little lower than the angels. He is Jesus, who is crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace ofc God he might experienced death for everyone.
10It was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through suffering as part of his plan to glorify many children, 11because both the one who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified all have the same Father.e That is why Jesusf is not ashamed to call them brothers 12when he says, “I will announce your name to my brothers. I will praise you within the congregation.”g 13And again, “I will trust him.”h And again, “I am here with the children God has given me.”i
14Therefore, since the children have flesh and blood, he himself also shared the same things, so that by his death he might destroy the one who has the power of death (that is, the devil) 15and might free those who were slaves all their lives because they were terrified by death. 16For it is clear that he did not come to help angels. No, he came to help Abraham’s descendants, 17thereby becoming like his brothers in every way, so that he could be a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God and could atone for the people’s sins. 18Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
